Why choose Beef Shares?
Variety - You can customize your share into a variety of cuts, including premium steaks, hearty roasts, ground beef, marrow, specialty sausages, etc, You will personally customize your selections according to your preferences with a local processor, down to the last detail of thickness per cut, and lbs per vacuum sealed package.
Cost Savings - Beef shares generally offer a lower price per pound compared to buying individual cuts at a grocery store.
Ethical & Sustainable Sourcing - By opting for this sourcing method, you can be confident about the origin of your meat, ensuring the humane treatment of animals and the implementation of sustainable ranching practices used.
At Sloan Ranch, we offer premium beef shares of only our highest quality calves that are born & pasture raised here locally on our ranch, with no use of growth hormones or antibiotics. Our half and whole shares provide healthy, flavorful meat that you can trust to nourish your family.
By choosing Sloan Ranch Beef, you're investing in meals that are both delicious and nutritious. From succulent steaks to hearty roasts, each share is meticulously processed, vacuum-sealed, and ready to grace your table.

How much meat can I expect?
Savor the complete experience of a side of beef with our Half Beef Share, which provides approximately 250 pounds of premium Angus Beef. This option allows you to personalize your cut sheet, selecting the cuts that perfectly suit your family's preferences.
Half Share - May require a dedicated chest freezer (around 7-10 cubic feet). If this is too much for your family, you can buy it and then share with a friend. However, the processor only cuts a minimum of a Half Share. You will need to divide your meat with a friend after it is processed. A “Quarter Share” usually fills a standard freezer.
Whole Share - Two Half Shares = Whole Share or One Whole Animal
Requires a larger chest freezer (around 17 cubic feet).
**Availability is based on seasonal processing dates, email sloanranchbeef@gmail.com for more information on upcoming availability.
What cuts will I get in my beef share?
Any time you are buying a beef share, you are buying into cuts from the whole animal. You can expect 15% premium cuts, 35% secondary muscle roasts and steaks, and 50% grind.
As an example, below is what a HALF SHARE could look like:
35 pounds of primary cuts such as: Ribeye, New York strip, Filet Mignon (tenderloin), Tri-tip, Top Sirloin, etc.
90 pounds of secondary muscle roasts and steaks such as: Chuck Roasts, Round Roasts, Fajita Strips, Flank Steak, Osso Bucco, Short Ribs, Stew Meat, Denver Steaks
120 pounds: ground beef, chorizo and/or breakfast sausage
Add ons by request - bones, beef tallow, organ meats
How much will I pay per pound?
Sloan Ranch charges $3.50 for each pound based on the animal’s “Live Weight.” This amount needs to be paid to Sloan Ranch two days prior to delivery to the butcher. Our average steer weight is approximately 1200 pounds.
Old Fashioned Country Butcher charges $1.70 per pound for processing based on the “Hanging Weight,” which is about 60% of the original “Live Weight.” After processing, you’ll get about 45% of the original “Live Weight” in meat.
Example (whole share):
Live Weight = 1200lbs x $3.50 = $4,200 paid to Sloan Ranch
Hanging Weight = 720lbs (60%) x $1.70 = $1,224 paid to Butcher
Slaughter Fee = $200 per animal paid to Butcher
Packaged Meat = 540lbs (45%)
Total: $5,624 (or 540lbs @ $10.40/pound)
**Half Shares represent about half of the total amount, with the slaughter fee divided equally between both buyers.

How it works
A few times a year, we will post upcoming pre-scheduled processing dates through our website and newsletter. Following this announcement we will release available Half Shares in our Ranch Store.
1. Reserve Your Spot
Select your Half Share of beef from our Ranch Store. Or purchase (2) Half Shares for a Whole Share. Place your $300 non-refundable deposit to secure your share of our 100% homegrown Angus Beef. This deposit will be applied towards the total purchase price.2. “Live Weight” Fee
In accordance with USDA standards, once your deposit is paid, your name is officially placed on one of our premium Ranch born & pasture raised/grain finished Sloan Ranch Beef Shares!! We will conduct a final weigh-in the week prior to transferring the animal for processing. Sloan Ranch will issue you an invoice based on the final “Live Weight” at a rate of $3.50 per pound.
